We love the mouse. Not any mouse, but THE mouse. Mickey Mouse. We love that mouse so much that we are willing to cross continents to meet him. Maybe that is crossing the creek to get some water. We don't actually need to go anywhere to meet A mouse.
Friday night I cought a mouse in my garage. I had set up a trap with smoked Icelandic lamb as the bait and mmmm, doesn't that smell tempting? :) Since there was a winter storm raging outside I decided not to release it immediatly, but instead I put it in a large plastic container on a shelf in one of the bathrooms and closed the doors. The kids immediatly fell in love with the mouse and named it Rósa Líf. But they were not to get to keep it.
Last night my son noticed that the door was open into the bathroom and when he checked the container there was NO MOUSE!!! And not only that, but every single door in the house was open meaning that the mouse could be in any room. A frantic search started for the mouse, the kids finding it very ammusing but my wife not, remembering the 16 days chase for the rat in our house in Denmark a few years back. "We found it" the kids shouted soon as they checked the corner behind the couch. There it was, tiny, little, cute mouse. Antonius (my son) stuck his foot under the couch to close escape routes while I went behind the couch, cornering the mouse and catching it! Hurray!
It was so soft and sweet as it lay in my palms. But soon it wanted to get out and started to push my fingers with it's nose searching for a way out. We found a small plastic container with a lid on and decided to put it there. My wife put the container on the kitchen table ready to smack as soon as the mouse got in. I put my hands inside ready to release the mouse into the box. As soon as I let it go I pulled my hands back very fast accidently hitting the edge of the container and throwing it off the table. Everyone screamed! The mouse tried to jump out of the container as it fell but I managed to catch it in the air. We put it back in and this time we managed to close the container. You can see the mouse inside the container in the picture. We are keeping the mouse over the night in the container, putting into a bigger container, covered with a cloth so it can't possibly escape.
Tomorrow we will release it outside. We don't want it to escape again.
